The MOFD Board is going to discuss the issue of “Funding Equity” at their board meeting next Wednesday, October 19th. It will be held in the Orinda Library Auditorium at 7:00. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend (even though it will mean missing the end of the third presidential “debate”.) The issue is simple: The Orinda Council “formed” MOFD by asking the County to let it be formed and then The Council told the Orinda voters that if they formed MOFD, all of their tax dollars going to MOFD would be used for services in Orinda. Will MOFD stand behind that promise made to Orinda voters? I ask you to come to the meeting and tell the MOFD Directors what you expect of them. We sent them a petition telling them what we expected, but telling them in person makes a powerful statement. If you cannot come, please send our MOFD Directors an email. All you have to say is “I expect Orinda tax dollars to be spent in Orinda as promised”.
