If you are concerned about Orinda tax dollars going to MOFD being spent in Orinda, which you are, I recommend that you support Craig Jorgens in his bid for MOFD Director representing North Orinda and not his opponent, Victoria Smith. Craig is a capable business person with substantial background in management, labor negotiations, and finance. Victoria is a lawyer and would be the third one on the board if elected. But it goes much deeper than that. In the current copy of the Orinda News Victoria Smith stated that even if the MOFD Board agreed at their October 19th meeting that Orinda tax dollars should be spent in Orinda, if she were on the Board she would divert any excess funds (which would be provided by Orinda taxpayers) not to improvements in safety for Orinda, but to pay off Moraga’s pension debt. This is not the type of support we need.
