The Issue
To: All members of the United States Congress.
We the signers of this petition hereby call for the passing of Goldie's Act and the Puppy Protection Act during the 118th Congressional Session to make change for the estimated 250,000 puppy mill dogs imprisoned in America's USDA dog breeding kennels.
Because only Congress can change the laws for dogs imprisoned in USDA breeding farms. We are asking all members of Congress to co-sponsor, and support this important legislation that will improve enforcement and the conditions and standards for the puppy mill dogs living in USDA commercial dog breeding kennels.
Large scale legal systemic cruelty is happening now!
Currently in 2023, there are around 3,000 USDA licensees with and estimated 250,000 dogs living in appalling conditions.
This is not OK for the breeding dogs, puppies or the families buying them.
The puppies produced in USDA kennels are sold and shipped online to unsuspecting families, sold online through puppy broker websites and trucked to pet stores that sell puppies across America.
What happens at a USDA breeding kennel?
The industry likes to say licensed dog breeders are not puppy mills but, we see it differently.
As seen year after year, inspection reports and photos taken by the USDA collectively show large scale systemic legal cruelty, suffering, lack of vet care and poor animal welfare standards have been going on for years.
Hundreds of thousands of dogs have suffered and continue to suffer in these legal licensed dog breeding kennels. It's time for Congress to pass legislation for these dogs.
