We have reached 50,000 Signatures!
What an amazing show of support! THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that has helped make this happen. We are not stopping – the more signatures we can get the more leverage our petition will have. Just imagine how great it will be when we hit 100,000!
A little more than a week ago we started this petition and had our first media piece in the UK. What followed has been unexpected and amazing. In the last week, we have seen an explosion of news stories and articles about this campaign. In total there have been more than 100 stories and interviews in print, online, radio, and TV, spread all across the globe. And this coverage will continue in the coming week. This issue has now been brought into the awareness of hundreds of thousands of people, maybe millions, and we have every intention to make the most of this sudden attention. While some of the stories were not as thorough and a bit more sensationalistic, we are so happy that for once, sharks receive media coverage because people empathize and want to protect them rather than sensationalizing a bloody shark incidence.
It is extremely encouraging to see how many people around the world actually care about sharks.
However, this has also catapulted us, at Shark Allies, into a truly global campaign. And we are a small organization that now has to quickly shift gears. We hope to update you with the actions we are taking and positive developments very soon.
BUT WHAT WE DESPERATELY NEED ARE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THIS IMMENSE SHIFT. Will you help us by donating $10 or $20 so we can inject more manpower and resources into this campaign?
Anything helps. We are doing everything we can with the help of volunteers, but this is too important and too big for us to dedicate less than 100% of our time end efforts to in the coming months.
If you can help, please donate via this link https://www.sharkallies.com/donate
(Please note – clicking the “promote this petition” on the petition page will also let you donate, but those funds go directly towards promoting the petition on Change.org, and will not go to Shark Allies. If you feel you would rather use funds to promote, feel free to use that link).
You can also help by encouraging people in your network to sign and share the petition. On the right of the petition page, you can “click to copy” the link and paste it into an email or your own social post. There are also direct links to share on Facebook and Twitter.
THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU! We cannot do this without you.
