The Issue

As a resident of the vibrant and peaceful community of Sainik Colony in Faridabad, we have always cherished the privilege of living in a place that values both its people and the environment. Recently, however, this peace has been shattered by a wave of illegal dumping along the Gurgaon–Faridabad road, with more than 20 truckloads of waste being carelessly disposed of in proximity to our homes.

This irresponsible act of dumping has not only marred the beauty of our area but has become a significant threat to our health and the environment. The decomposing waste emits a foul odour that permeates the air we breathe, leading to unbearable living conditions. This air pollution poses severe health risks, especially to children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions. Moreover, the waste seeps into the soil, contaminating it with hazardous substances that could affect local flora and fauna and potentially enter our food chain.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, improper waste management and illegal dumping contribute significantly to environmental degradation and health challenges. The sheer volume of waste dumped is alarming and indicative of systemic failures in waste management.

We cannot stand by while such actions threaten our health and our environment. We urge the authorities to take immediate and decisive action. Our call is for the Commissioner of Faridabad Municipal Corporation, the Chairperson of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, and our Badkhal MLA and Ward-19 Councillor to inspect the site, identify and penalize the offenders, and implement stricter enforcement of waste disposal regulations.

To address this issue, the installation of CCTV cameras along the road and regular patrolling can act as a deterrent against illegal dumping. Additionally, organizing community clean-up drives, increasing awareness about proper waste management, and simplifying the waste disposal system for local businesses can significantly reduce such illegal activities.

The fate of our community and the environment is in our hands. By coming together and raising our voices, we can lead the change. Let us stand united to protect our health and our home. Please sign this petition and demand action now, before it's too late.
