Millions of Americans have learned about the horrors of factory farms thanks to undercover investigations, including one by The HSUS at a Wyoming pork producer that exposed workers kicking live piglets and punching their mothers. But instead of making much-needed reforms to how animals are treated, the industry’s response has largely been to use its money and lobbying power to push legislators around the country to pass "ag-gag" bills. These bills take different forms, but the intent is the same: to intimidate whistleblowers and prevent them from exposing cruelty or food safety violations.
