Urgent Protection and Resettlement Appeal for an At-Risk Afghan Refugee and Human Rights Defender

 call on UNHCR, relevant governments, embassies, and international human rights organizations to urgently review the protection situation of an Afghan refugee and human rights defender living in Türkiye and to help identify a safe pathway to a third country.

I am an Afghan refugee and human rights defender who has openly advocated for human rights, freedom of thought, and secular values. Because of my public activities and views, I face serious security concerns and fear persecution if I am forced to return to Afghanistan.

My refugee case has been registered with UNHCR in Türkiye for years, but despite repeated evaluations, I have not been offered a safe long-term solution.

I am asking supporters around the world to stand with me and other vulnerable refugees who may face persecution because of their beliefs, activism, or human rights work.

We urge UNHCR and relevant authorities to:

- Urgently review my protection case and current security situation.

- Consider whether I qualify for resettlement or another safe and legal pathway to a third country.

- Ensure that I am not returned to a place where I reasonably fear persecution or serious harm.

- Allow independent human rights organizations to examine and advocate for my case.

This petition is not asking for special treatment. It is asking for a fair, transparent assessment and meaningful protection for a person who fears that returning to Afghanistan could put his life at serious risk.
