Urgent Petition for Comprehensive Traffic Safety Measures in Memory of Raymond Kurtz

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Terre Hill Borough, visitors, and our friends and families, come together in this deeply personal petition, driven by the tragic incidents on our streets that claimed the life of Raymond Kurtz, 86, and left Chris Umberger, 48, facing severe injuries from a hit-and-run incident.

These incidents are not isolated; they underscore a distressing trend of pedestrians being struck, demanding immediate action. In the past two months alone, several residents have fallen victim to unsafe traffic conditions on Main Street and Lancaster Avenue.

Our collective plea encompasses three critical components:

1. Comprehensive Traffic Engineering Study: An urgent call for a thorough traffic engineering study to accurately assess risks and propose effective solutions tailored to our borough’s needs.

2. Immediate Safety Measures: Advocacy for decreased speed limits, strategic placement of additional stop signs, and the implementation of additional police presence. These measures are crucial for the safety of all road users in our community.

3. Enhanced Police Presence and Speed Limit Enforcement: We request additional police presence and enhanced speed limit enforcement to deter reckless driving and ensure compliance with newly established speed limits.

This petition is not just a call for action; it is a plea to prevent further loss and suffering in our community. We envision safer streets for families, seniors, and everyone who traverses our beautiful borough.

Join us in urging local authorities to prioritize and expedite the implementation of these crucial safety measures, including increased police presence and speed limit enforcement. Together, let’s make our streets safer before more lives are at risk or lost due to preventable accidents.

Sign this petition today to ensure a safer tomorrow for Terre Hill.
