The Issue

To the Honorable Elected Officials and Representatives,

We, the undersigned members of the Iranian diaspora, write to you with profound concern regarding the Iranian regime’s intentional, nationwide internet blackout. In these critical times, internet access is not merely a communication tool - it is a vital lifeline that connects us to our families and loved ones in Iran. It is essential for citizen safety, the free flow of information, and the documentation of human rights abuses.

The current severe restrictions have deliberately isolated the Iranian people from the free world, violating their fundamental right to freedom of expression and leaving many of us deeply anxious about the safety and well-being of our loved ones.

As representatives of a free society, we respectfully urge you to leverage all available legislative, political, and diplomatic avenues to:

Support Uncensored Technologies: Expedite licensing and provide tangible support for companies offering satellite internet services and secure circumvention tools (such as VPNs) to citizens inside Iran.
Apply Diplomatic Pressure: Publicly condemn this internet blackout as a blatant violation of human rights and hold those responsible accountable in international forums.
The voices of the Iranian people must not be silenced in the dark. We deeply appreciate your prompt attention and meaningful action in defending universal human rights and supporting the Iranian people’s access to free information.

Respectfully submitted,

We Are San Diego On behalf of the Iranian-American community and the global Iranian diaspora

San Diego, California
