Wokingham, Earley, and Winnersh are home to a growing and vibrant Muslim population that contributes significantly to the diversity and economy of the borough. However, we were recently made aware that there is no longer any available space for Muslim burials in the area.

This is deeply concerning and disappointing, as having access to a burial space is a basic and essential need for any community. Despite the contributions we make to the local economy and society, the council has not taken adequate steps to address this pressing issue.

We call on Wokingham Borough Council to take immediate action to allocate a dedicated burial space for the Muslim community. This is not just a matter of convenience but one of dignity, respect, and inclusivity for all residents of the borough.
