URGENT: Florida state lawmakers are considering dangerous legislation that protects and promotes cruel puppy mills and their pet store sales outlets! SB 994 and HB 849 (known as "The Pet Protection Bill”) would prevent any future local pet store ordinances prohibiting the sale of puppy mill puppies and void ordinances recently passed in Manatee and Orange Counties. The bill's sponsors are Senator Manny Diaz and Representative Fernandez-Barquins both of Miami-Dade County. According to FloridaPoliticscom, Senator Diaz and Representative Fernandez-Barquins received campaign contributions of $3,000 and $5,000 from pet retailers. Both are running for re-election in 2022.
