It states that they plan to pass legislation within the first 100 days of entering government.

Whilst there is a specific reference to fixing retention in Adult Social Care there is no mention of Children's Social Care. This is shocking given the year on year statistics showing the ever increasing foster carer retention crisis leading to local authorities wasting millions of pounds on external private provision. We have provided significant evidence over the years of widespread mistreatment of foster carers via first hand accounts, Local Government Ombudsman Rulings and court rulings. These accounts and rulings also show a widespread pattern of mistreatment of children in care.  

We are asking for urgent clarification on how foster carers will be included in the New Deal For Working People and to end the spiralling cost of children's social care, safeguard children growing up in care and provide rights and protection to the foster carers to enable them to whistleblow and advocate for the children in their care without the horrific retaliation reported as normal by so many and proven in this court case.

The foster carers complained on behalf of their foster daughter. This led to false allegations of sexual impropriety and the girl was removed. Social workers were proven to have fabricated witness statements for court. 

We have been raising similar concerns for years and explaining how the lack of rights for foster carers leads to huge financial losses for the public purse and harm to foster children.
