The Issue

Thousands of CBSE Class 12 students across India and international schools are raising serious concerns regarding the 2026 board examination results and the use of the OSM (On-Screen Marking) evaluation system.

Many students who consistently performed well in school, practicals, pre-boards, and internal assessments have received unexpectedly low marks, with several even being placed under compartment categories despite strong academic records. The scale of these complaints has led students and parents to question the accuracy, consistency, and fairness of the evaluation process.

Students are reporting:

- Major differences between expected and awarded marks
- Inconsistent correction patterns
- Unusually low scoring across subjects
- Concerns regarding technical or system-related evaluation errors
- Lack of transparency in the marking process

There are also concerns that many evaluators may not have received adequate training to properly use the OSM digital correction system. When a system directly affects the future of lakhs of students, even small errors can have devastating consequences.

These results impact:

- College admissions
- Scholarship opportunities
- Competitive exam eligibility
- Student mental health and confidence

This petition demands that CBSE take immediate action by:

Conducting a fair revaluation of affected answer sheets
Ensuring answer sheets are manually reviewed by qualified teachers instead of relying solely on digital evaluation systems
Providing free revaluation and verification for students affected by questionable marking
Increasing transparency in the evaluation and moderation process
Reviewing the implementation and functioning of the OSM system used for the 2026 board examinations

Students should not suffer because of possible systemic flaws, technical failures, or improper implementation of a marking system. Board examination results shape academic futures, and every student deserves a fair and accurate evaluation of their hard work.

We urge CBSE to acknowledge these concerns and take corrective action immediately.
