Urgent call to the Health Secretary: Provide fair access to treatment for OCD

Urgent call to the Health Secretary: Provide fair access to treatment for OCD

The Issue

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a serious and debilitating mental health condition, affecting approximately 750,000 people in the UK.

Although serious, OCD is highly treatable; provision of the recommended treatments can be transformative. But, when left untreated, OCD can ruin lives, and it can tear families apart.

Right now, too many people living with OCD are struggling to access the treatment they desperately need. In a recent survey by the UK Charity OCD Action, just under 50% of respondents said they did not receive the recommended therapy for OCD in their most recent round of treatment.

This is appalling. Everybody living with OCD deserves fair access to the treatment they need.

This OCD Week of Action, OCD Action is calling on Steve Barclay, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, to make real change. We want new ways of working which will ensure improvements in the identification of OCD. We are calling for changes that will drive the delivery of timely treatment which is consistently in line with recommendations for the treatment of OCD.

Now is the time for change. For too long, people struggling with OCD have been let down and left behind by a system that isn't meeting their needs.

By signing this petition today, you are taking vital action to help people living with OCD in the UK access the treatment they need and deserve. Thank you.
