Urgent Call to Revoke Presidential Immunity for Criminal Acts and Violence

Urgent Call to Revoke Presidential Immunity for Criminal Acts and Violence
The Issue
To: The United States Congress, The United States Supreme Court, and The American People
We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, urgently call upon our legislative and judicial branches to reverse the decision that grants former President Donald Trump and all future presidents immunity against prosecution for all official actions held in office. This decision undermines the fundamental principles of our democracy and jeopardizes the safety and rights of the American people.
**The Undermining of Democracy and Justice**
Granting immunity to presidents for their official actions, including those that may involve criminal acts and violence, sets a dangerous precedent. It essentially approves of misconduct and paves the way for dictatorial behavior. This is not only a threat to our democracy but also to the very fabric of our society.
**A History of Misconduct**
Former President Donald Trump has exhibited numerous instances of misconduct over the years, including but not limited to:
1. Incitement of violence during the January 6th Capitol insurrection.
2. Obstruction of justice in the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
3. Abuse of power in the Ukraine scandal, leading to his impeachment.
4. Numerous violations of the Emoluments Clause.
5. Repeatedly spreading misinformation and undermining public trust in democratic institutions.
Granting immunity to such actions is tantamount to endorsing them, which is unacceptable in a democratic society that values accountability and the rule of law.
**The Principle of Accountability**
The decision to grant absolute immunity to presidents for their actions while in office does not uphold the safety and security of United States citizens. It essentially states that any president can carry out ANY illegal and violent act while in office without facing any legal consequences. This is a direct affront to the principle that no one is above the law.
**We, the People**
It is "We the People," as stated in the Preamble to the United States Constitution, not "We, the U.S. Supreme Court," who advocate against tyranny and criminal acts committed by those in power. Our democracy is built on the foundation of checks and balances, and no person in authority should be granted absolute immunity and power.
**A Call to Action**
We, the undersigned, firmly and unequivocally urge Congress and the Supreme Court to:
1. Revoke the decision granting immunity to presidents for official actions, especially those involving criminal acts and violence.
2. Reinstate the principle that NO ONE, including the president, is above the law.
3. Ensure that all actions taken by a president are subject to legal scrutiny and accountability.
The preservation of our democracy and the protection of the American people depend on your immediate action. Let us stand united in our commitment to justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Citizens of the United States of America
