Hi everyone,
First, thank you for signing the petition. The Wolli Creek community as well as many others have shown incredible support for George, but unfortunately, we have hit a wall.
Despite our outrage, WIRES and the Animal Welfare League (AWL) have not provided the transparency we deserve regarding George’s unjustified removal. We now have strong reason to believe George has been quietly handed off to a private third party, completely bypassing his rightful owner and established caretakers.
They are hoping we will just forget and move on. We aren't going to do that.
To force a formal review, we need to flood their inboxes and phone lines. We have done all the hard work for you, we just need 3 minutes of your time today.
ACTION 1: Send Emails
We have created a Community Action Drive with a full case summary and pre-written email templates for all the key agencies.
How to do it: Open the link, read the "START HERE" file, copy the templates, and send them off.
ACTION 2: Make the Calls (Optional)
If you only have one minute, tap the numbers below right from your phone. You don't need to argue with anyone. Just say:
"I am calling to lodge a formal complaint about the unjustified removal and processing of George the Wolli Creek community goose who resides at the Kogarah Golf Club, and I want to know how this is being investigated."
(Note: If NPWS tells you they only deal with native wildlife, simply reply: "I am calling because a native wildlife group, WIRES, misused their authority to remove a domestic animal from a local waterway, which requires NPWS oversight.")
WIRES: 1300 094 737
Animal Welfare League (AWL): 02 8777 4445
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS): 1300 072 757
Minister for Agriculture's Office: 02 7225 6120
Local State MP, Stephen Kamper (Rockdale) : 02 9597 1414
Thank you for standing up for George. Together, we can hold these agencies accountable and make sure this doesn't happen to another community pet.
In solidarity,
Friends of George
