URGENT: Ban Israeli representatives from the Nobel Ceremony and Banquet on December 10th

On December 10th, the eyes of the world turn to Stockholm for the yearly Nobel Prize award ceremony and banquet. It is crucial for esteemed organizations like the Nobel Foundation to take a stance in safeguarding civilian lives and opposing violations of international law. Similar to the retraction of invitations to Russian and Belarusian ambassadors due to their actions in Ukraine, we urge the Nobel Foundation to adhere to its policies and values by distancing itself from the ongoing crimes against international humanitarian law being committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Lebanon.
The International Court of Justice in the Hague, the world's highest international court, deemed in its preliminary decision on January 26th 2024, in the case South Africa v. Israel, that Israel’s actions in Palestine could amount to genocide. On July 19th 2024, after two years of deliberation, the ICJ also ruled in a separate advisory opinion that Israel’s 57 year long occupation and annexation of Palestinian territories is illegal and that they are imposing a system of apartheid against the palestinian population. These statements are unequivocally corroborated by humanitarian organizations world wide, who have tirelessly reported on the atrocities taking place and urged the world to act.
The level of humanitarian suffering is unprecedented and it’s time for our actions to reflect this.
No matter the conflict, civilian lives must always be protected, international law must always be respected and breaches thereof must always be condemned.
Last year, this petition gathered over 18,500 signatures in under five days, which were handed over to the Foundation who unfortunately chose to ignore the people’s request.
We firmly stand by our demand that the Nobel Foundation remove representatives of the Israeli government from the guestlist of the Nobel Prize award ceremonies and banquet on December 10th 2024.
Thank you for standing up for justice.
Best,
Civil Rights Collective Sweden

Statistics on the reported impact on Gaza as of September 2024:
- According to the UN, over 40,000 Palestinians have now been killed with at least 10,000 more reported missing under the rubble and close to 95,000 injured. The esteemed medical journal The Lancet, estimated in July 2024 that the total death toll could amount to over 186,000, even with an immediate ceasefire.
- Almost the entirety of the Gazan population is now forcibly displaced. Israel has ordered the evacuation of all but 14% of the Gaza strip, confining each palestinian to an average space of 1,5m², far below the minimum emergency indicator of 3,5m². 96% of the population is projected to face crisis levels of food insecurity due to the ongoing Israeli blockade of all border crossings.
- At least 11,355 children have been identified as killed and around 17,000 children unaccompanied or separated from their families. 625,000 children are going into their second year without access to formal education and 85% of schools have been destroyed.
- The past year has also been the deadliest conflict for other professional groups with at least 173 journalists, 986 health workers and 306 aid workers including 228 UN staff killed.
