Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I am writing to highlight the critical issue regarding the GATE stipend for M.Tech and other postgraduate programs, which has been stagnant at Rs 12,400 per month for over  more than 12 years

It is highly significant that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), recognized this disparity, formally proposed a hike to Rs 18,600 per month. However, this recommendation is still awaiting final implementation.

Given the substantial rise in the cost of living and inflation over the last decade, I would like to emphasize that even the proposed amount is insufficient to meet the basic needs of students, let alone support serious research. This financial burden causes considerable stress, preventing students from focusing fully on their studies and research activities.

And more importantly, nowadays in many of the iits and nits this stipend is not even enough to pay their fees only, which leads to put stress on the scholar and harming their studies and researches.

Therefore, I earnestly request the Government to promptly consider and implement a truly sustainable increment that accurately reflects the current economic reality.
