Urgent Action Needed: Resolve Kaggadasapura Railway Gate Traffic Crisis

Urgent Action Needed: Resolve Kaggadasapura Railway Gate Traffic Crisis
The Issue
Petition to:
Government of Karnataka,
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP),
South Western Railway Authorities,
Bangalore Traffic Police
We, the residents and daily commuters of Kaggadasapura and surrounding areas, respectfully urge the concerned authorities to take immediate and concrete action to resolve the persistent problems caused by the Kaggadasapura Railway Gate.
The railway gate remains closed multiple times a day for extended durations, leading to severe traffic congestion, long waiting hours, missed work commitments, delayed emergency services, and increased stress for thousands of commuters, including school children, senior citizens, and patients. The situation worsens during peak hours, often bringing the entire locality to a standstill.
Despite repeated complaints and public inconvenience over the years, there has been no permanent solution implemented. The lack of a flyover has made daily commuting unsafe, inefficient, and exhausting.
We demand the following immediate actions:
- Construction of a permanent flyover or over bridge at the Kaggadasapura Railway Gate.
- Implementation of proper traffic diversion plans during gate closures.
- Transparent communication on project timelines and progress.
- Short-term relief measures to reduce waiting time until a permanent solution is completed.
- This issue directly affects the quality of life, productivity, and safety of thousands of Bengaluru citizens.
- We urge the authorities to treat this as a priority infrastructure and public safety concern.
The Government of Karnataka, vide No. IDD 345 NSW 2025 dated 22.12.2025, issued by the Infrastructure Development, Ports and Inland Water Transport Department, forwarded my representation dated 18.11.2025 to the concerned Railway authorities, namely the General Manager, South Western Railway, Hubballi, and the Chief Administrative Officer, South Western Railway, Bengaluru, with directions to take necessary action as per rules and submit a report to the Government.
While certain activities related to the project appear to be underway, the pace of progress is extremely slow. More importantly, residents and stakeholders have not received any official communication or clarity from the concerned authorities regarding the project timelines, stages of execution, or the expected date of completion. This lack of information has resulted in continued uncertainty and concern among the public.
Over the years, more than 125 written representations have been submitted by apartment associations, local institutions, and a school. Thousands of residents have also signed petitions requesting an early resolution to this issue. In addition, repeated representations have been made to elected representatives and senior officials, including Mr V. Somanna, Mr D. K. Shiv Kumar, Members of Parliament Mr P. C. Mohan and Madam Shobha Karandlaje, as well as local MLAs Mr Basavaraj and Mr Raghu.
We request prompt action before the situation worsens further.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizens and Commuters using Kaggadasapura Railway Gate
Bengaluru
