Urgent Action Needed : Address Overheating in Our Schools for a Safe Learning Environment

The Issue

The inadequate ventilation and air conditioning at Kindree Public School have become a serious issue impacting the well-being, safety, and productivity of everyone in the school.

In recent weeks, the temperatures inside the school have become unbearable. Despite the best efforts of the school staff, they are struggling to manage the situation as the school year comes to an end.

Over the past week, the indoor temperatures have reached uncomfortable, harmful, and unsafe levels. The current infrastructure cannot handle the rising temperatures, which pose health risks to students and staff.

It is imperative that both the Peel District School Board and our Government officials address this problem immediately.

Key areas that need attention include:

  • Infrastructure
    • Air Conditioning
    • Ventilation Systems
  • Temporary Measures
    • Fans in the Classrooms
    • Cooling Stations
    • Mobile Air Conditioning Units
    • Alternative learning locations

The well-being of our children and the staff must be prioritized. This issue no longer lasts for only a couple of weeks but now affects our children for months, both at the end of the year and through the beginning of the school year into the fall.

By coming together, we can show the school board and government the importance of our children's education and safety to us. As stakeholders in our children's education, we must ensure they have a safe and supportive environment for them to learn and grow.

Edit: This situation is not only happening at Kindree Public School. This is happening in schools throughout the province of Ontario!
