Dr. Slaughter, the Intermediate Assistant Principal in Whitney, Texas, has had a meaningful impact on our community. This dedication, however, is currently overshadowed by a statement that he used physical contact to de-escalate a female student who was allegedly harming others. 

Dr. Slaughter’s reputation within the district is exemplary. Teachers, parents, and students have all benefited from their leadership, compassion, and expertise in resolving conflicts, promoting inclusive policies, and enhancing student well-being. He utilizes utmost care and concern for student safety. In situations as delicate as addressing physical altercations among students, quick judgment is often necessary to prevent further harm.

Removing Dr. Slaughter from his position could jeopardize the supportive atmosphere that has been cultivated over the past two years. Maintaining stability and continuity in school leadership, especially during times of undue criticism, is crucial for the ongoing development and morale of students and staff alike.
