Urge WAC to cancel Iranian Ambassador Seyed Mousavian's event

Urge WAC to cancel Iranian Ambassador Seyed Mousavian's event
The Issue
In August 2025, Seyed Mousavian left his position at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs following a two-year campaign that sparked widespread protests. Critics, including influential figures like Ted Cruz, have consistently raised concerns about Mr. Mousavian's ties to the Iranian regime and his alleged involvement in the Mykonos case, a notorious event highlighting the regime's oppressive tactics.
Despite these controversies, the World Affairs Council (WAC) has organized an event featuring Mr. Mousavian, set to take place on May 5, 2026, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston, TX. They describe him as a "moderate" voice, overlooking his deep-rooted connections with the Islamic Republic's political and security establishment. This portrayal contrasts starkly with the experiences of many Iranians who have suffered under this regime, including those impacted by the Mykonos assassinations.
By proceeding with this event, WAC not only whitewashes Mr. Mousavian's controversial past but also fails to acknowledge the voices of thousands of Iranians who continue to seek justice and representation.
We urge the WAC to cancel this event as it stands contrary to the values of promoting genuine dialogue and understanding. By doing so, they can support a more truthful representation of the Iranian people and their diverse experiences, moving forward responsibly.
Please join us in calling on the World Affairs Council to reevaluate their decision to host Mr. Mousavian. Sign this petition to ensure that voices advocating for a more transparent and just perspective on Iran are not overshadowed by individuals with contentious ties to the past. Together, we can make a meaningful impact. Sign the petition now!
