The issue

The sudden suspension of VFS Global consular services in Australia from 1st of July has created a humanitarian crisis for the Indian diaspora. My close friend family is one of many individuals directly affected by this abrupt halt in services. His immediate crisis revolves around the need for visa renewal. There are many suffers similarly or wore, This situation mirrors countless others in the Indian community here, underscoring the devastating daily impact of suspended services.

Without access to VFS Global, individuals are unable to obtain emergency visas or renew their passports, essentially grounding them in Australia when they desperately need to travel to India. This has left families disconnected during times of despair and grief, unable to attend funerals or provide support during critical medical emergencies. Our community is stranded, helplessly watching from afar as our loved ones in India endure hardship without us by their sides.

The role of VFS Global is crucial for our community’s connectivity to India, serving as the vital link for necessary travel documentation. The sudden suspension of service has disrupted the lives of thousands, causing undue stress and emotional turmoil. While health and safety protocols must be adhered to, a balance is needed to accommodate crises without compromising overall service standards.

We, Catholic Congress ask VFS Global and relevant Indian and Australian authorities to urgently review and amend current operational disruptions. Solutions such as an interim emergency service for visa and passport processing or special arrangements for urgent cases could greatly alleviate the current crisis.

By signing this petition, you support the call for immediate action from MEA and associated government bodies to provide the necessary services to the Indian community in Australia. Let us not be prisoners of circumstances; allow us to be with our families when they need us the most. Please sign to help restore essential services and ease the hardships faced by many during these trying times.
