The US Congress led by Senator Booker included language in the 2022 Water Resources Development Act that the finding a solution to flooding of Rahway River was a national priority. But since January 2022, limited assessment has been done and recently a schedule of the workplan places a Chief's Report in 2026 with any work delayed then until 2027 after a Congressional appropriation.  

After the US Army Corps and state of New Jersey spent over $6 million and evaluated 21 different alternatives, the current plan shows 4 more years until a flood control plan is put into place.
