We are calling on the UK Government to redirect its economic focus away from the possible trade deal with the USA due to potential negative impacts on our healthcare system, food standards, and environmental protections.
We believe that the UK's best interests lie in maintaining and strengthening trade relations with the European Union, the country's biggest trading partner.
In light of the many shared values and standards between the UK and EU, and considering the actual financial burden imposed by USA government to the UK and worldwide, focusing on closer ties with EU will help to foster economic stability, support local businesses, and uphold high living standards for our citizens. None of these would be achieved by an US deal where terms are dictate by one side only. As we understand from trusted media reports, the USA only consider sign a trade deal if the UK accept terms inclusion of agricultural products, no digital tax, opening NHS to private health providers and disclosure of personal data information of UK citizens. Furthermore, moving towards EU would smooth the path should future circumstances favor a potential re-entry into the block.
