Over the past 14 years, I have established deep roots and strong connections in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM). It is devastating to see the community I care about struggle with possible financial irregularities. Recent reports suggest that a mismanagement of funds from 2010 is responsible for a staggering £30m accounting error. It appears that these funds simply vanished, leaving residents like myself to face a steep increase in council taxes. Fevered discussions surround this issue, yet no discernable action is being undertaken. The funds belong to the people of RBWM, we have the right to know where they went. Asking residents to pay increased taxes without a comprehensive investigation is akin to patching a leak instead of fixing it at its source. We, therefore, urge the UK Government to thoroughly investigate the alleged financial transgressions of the RBWM Council. Doing so will provide clarity, restore good governance, and assure taxpayers that their money is being used responsibly. Now more than ever, we need to protect our homes, our livelihoods and our future. Please sign this petition to demand transparency and accountable leadership.

Beyond politics the council has been run by different parties and there is absolutely no accountability where the fault lies. It's definitely not the people of the council but the administrators have to find the missing money and fix the issues. The council has seen tremendous growth with new builds everywhere generating new revenue all through the last year. People have compromised growth over convenience but increasing taxes due to accounting error is unacceptable.
