The Issue

To the CEOs of alll major U.S. Airlines:

We, the undersigned, come to you with a plea for the safety of our fellow women and young girls living in the United States:

While we have yet to hear that any such plans are on the horizon, we need you to let the world know NOW that you will not now nor ever restrict our travel. Make it known that you will never require us to submit to a pregnancy or other health-related screening prior to boarding one of your planes, domestic or international. Share your stance that a private company should never request the right nor submit to the order of requiring its customers to share privileged personal and health information or decisions with them in order to make use of their products or services.

We women find ourselves back where our mothers and grandmothers were decades ago: fighting the same fights they fought. However much it pains us to utter these words, we need you – men in positions of power and influence – to support us, to stand up for our rights as full human beings, to let the world know that you will never compromise your values and ask us to suffer the indignation, humiliation, and harm we will experience if we are forced to divulge intimate details of our personal lives.

We must be free to travel the country and the world as we wish, whether for pleasure, business, or for health-related treatments. You would never ask a man to submit to any screenings, and we expect you will treat us with the same respect.

We trust that your hearts, your minds, your faiths, and whatever higher power(s) you hold dear will steer you to make the right call and stand on the right side of history.

Yours in community and country

The women and girls of the United States of America
