Urge the UN to End the Genocide and Apartheid in Africa and Prosecute Responsible Regimes
The Issue
I am an American black Muslim who has witnessed the genocide, oppression, discrimination, and brutal destruction of our people for far too long. The torment and dehumanization of indigenous Africans extends back to the days of the transatlantic slave trade, where our ancestors were infiltrated, treated as subhuman, and subjected to unimaginable cruelties under the guise of slavery and systematic murder. The sad story of Africa is one of a beautifully rich continent that is currently being manipulated in a neo-colonial fashion–– exploited and ravaged by the West for its own financial and political gain.
It's time we say: enough is enough.
We are calling upon the United Nations to bring an immediate end to the apartheid and genocide that continues to take place in Africa. Furthermore, we urge that the United Nations, as a committed custodian of human rights and peace, to bring to trial those individuals and entities who instill oppressive regimes upon the beleaguered indigenous Africans.
The stakes here are paramount–– the UN Development Programme states that Africa loses about $58 billion every year due to wars, conflicts, and the effects of genocide. If managed effectively, these resources could have been harnessed for development purposes rather than funding destructive wars (UNDP, 2014). This egregious violence and unfair treatment of indigenous Africans is not just a violation of human rights – it also significantly impacts Africa’s economic potential and hampers sustainable social development.
We cannot stand by and allow this to proceed unchallenged. Join me in calling for justice and humanity. We must urge the United Nations to fulfill its inherent duties. Sign this petition today.
