Urge The Seattle Times to Report on Light Rail Impact

The Issue

Tire City was my only hope when the front tire of my motorhome blew. There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to afford a tire from other shops. I could technically afford the tire I got, however, being a small local company they were able to cut some off so I could afford it versus the big corporate shops. If it wasn't for Tire City, I would have lost my home long ago.

Small businesses like Tire City are more than just places of commerce; they are lifelines for many of us in the community. Right now, these cherished local establishments stand in the path of the proposed light rail, threatening not just their existence, but the fabric of support they provide to residents like me.

The light rail development plan, while beneficial for many in terms of transportation and city planning, could potentially devastate historic local businesses that have been integral to our community’s livelihood for decades. Unquestionably, infrastructure growth is necessary, but it must not come at the expense of businesses that are already struggling to survive in today's economic climate.

We need The Seattle Times to investigate and adequately report on the real consequences that the proposed path may have on these historic local businesses. It is vital that a comprehensive story covers the impacts, both potential and current, to ensure our community's voices are heard before any irreversible actions are taken.

Comprehensive coverage from a credible source like The Seattle Times can spark public discourse, illuminate overlooked consequences, and push for alternative solutions that can preserve both our transit needs and the legacy businesses that make our neighborhoods thrive.

Sign this petition to urge The Seattle Times to stand with our community, to delve deep into this issue, and to ensure that these invaluable local businesses are not silently erased by the path of progress. Your signature can make a difference.
