I have been proud to be a member of the Labour Party for over ten years, dedicating countless hours to party activities, including canvassing thousands of voters on the doorstep. I would not recognise a party that could so brazenly rig the game, for the benefit of a few. It is disheartening to see reports that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party might consider blocking the candidacy of Andy Burnham, the current Mayor of Greater Manchester, from standing in the upcoming Gorton and Denton parliamentary by-election, for politically motivated reasons.

The Labour Party has long stood for the principles of democracy and fairness, and has earned a reputation for calling out when other parties employ underhand tactics. Blocking Andy Burnham, one of the party's most popular and proven assets, would tarnish the party's commitment to these principles.
