The Issue

The lake is a hidden treasure located next to the Ecology Park and Greenwich Millennium Village overlooks the lake.

Growing up beside our beloved neighborhood lake, I have cherished countless mornings walking along its banks, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the natural beauty it brought into our lives. But over the past few years, these idyllic moments have turned into worrisome encounters. The once refreshing breeze now carries an unpleasant sewage-like smell, and the stagnant, shallow waters have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The declining health of the lake is not just an inconvenience; it's a serious health risk for our community.

Moreover the environment contributes to the risk of airborne diseases  Scientists warn that stagnant water bodies can emit harmful gases and attract pests, further increasing health risks. Untreated water bodies can negatively impact surrounding environments and public health.

It is imperative that the Land Trust takes action to restore the lake's health. Suggested solutions include regular aeration programs, controlled water level adjustments, and environmentally friendly mosquito control measures. The adoption of these methods will help improve water circulation, reduce mosquito breeding, and ultimately restore the lake's ecological balance.

By signing this petition, you will join me in urging the Land Trust to prioritize the necessary interventions for our lake's rehabilitation. Together, we can ensure that future generations will enjoy the same beauty and safety that once defined our cherished community landmark. Let's make a stand for our lake, our health, and our quality of life. Sign the petition today to make a difference!
