The issue

On Sunday, 14 December 2025, a horrific terrorist attack occurred at Bondi, tragically claiming the lives of at least 15 people. This violent and senseless act has left Australian families, mainly from our Jewish community, devastated.  It has sent shockwaves through communities nationwide. Many of us are grappling with profound loss, fear, and uncertainty, as the threat of radicalisation continues to loom over our society.

It is not just an attack on individuals and the Jewish community, but an attack on our shared values and our peaceful way of life. This tragedy underscores an urgent need for our government to take decisive and immediate action to address the radicalisation of young people in Australia. We can no longer afford to wait as the seeds of extremism are sown, unchecked.

We call upon the Governor General to recall the Parliament of Australia without delay, and ideally before 24 December 2025, so that they can urgently address this growing menace. The goal of this recall is to introduce and pass comprehensive legislation that tackles the root causes of radicalisation, aiming to safeguard vulnerable youth and prevent future tragedies.

This legislative measure should focus on means to shut down individuals and organisations involved in promoting terrorism.  It must also be aimed at fostering inclusion, education, and social cohesion, creating support systems for those at risk, and implementing efficient deradicalisation programs. By integrating community leaders, educators, and law enforcement in this mission, we aim to build a resilient society that resists hate in all its forms.

The time to act is now. With your support, we can demand accountability, proactive measures, and a safer Australia. We need to send a clear message to our leaders that the safety and well-being of our communities must be their top priority.

Please sign this petition to urge the Governor General to take action. Together, let’s ensure that no more families have to endure the pain that so many are already facing. Stand with us to protect our future and preserve the safety of our nation.
