Urge the government to tackle soaring fuel prices
The Issue
My name is Amy Bruton-Bailey and like many others in our community, I am feeling the intense pressure of skyrocketing fuel prices. As a disabled individual living in Neath Port Talbot, my car is essential for me, for commuters, mothers and fathers taking children to school, and running daily errands. However, the current fuel prices are making it nearly impossible to maintain these necessary activities. It's more than an inconvenience; it's a financial burden that's squeezing my family and many others who are already struggling to make ends meet.
The cost of petrol and diesel continues to surge, and our wages have not kept pace with inflation. This issue is not just affecting individual households but is also impacting small businesses that rely heavily on transportation, pushing them closer to financial brink. Without intervention, this situation could lead to wider economic repercussions, affecting local commerce and jobs.
Statistics show that fuel prices have increased by over 35% in Diesel and 24% in petrol in the past year alone. This is not sustainable, and immediate action is required to alleviate the financial burden.
We call upon our government to take urgent and decisive action. Possible measures include reducing fuel taxes, subsidizing fuel costs for essential workers, and investing sustainable long-term solutions.
This matter is urgent and requires our collective voice to compel change. By signing this petition, you are supporting the need for fair and reasonable fuel prices, ensuring that we can keep our cars running and our lives moving. Please add your name to demand the government address this critical issue. Together, we can make a difference.
