Urge the Board of Directors to Allow Permanent Accent/Holiday Lighting

Urge the Board of Directors to Allow Permanent Accent/Holiday Lighting
The Issue
To all residents of Cottonwood Canyon Hills:
Please sign this petition to urge the Board of Directors to amend the rules as currently written to allow permanent concealed eave lighting (aka accent/holiday lighting) in our community.
At their meeting on March 28, 2024, the Board of Directors declined a resident’s request to amend the Rules and Regulations regarding holiday decorations and the Design Guidelines regarding exterior lighting to include permanent concealed eave lighting.
Cottonwood Canyon Hills Community Association is banning the installation of permanent concealed accent/holiday lighting. Residents who currently have the lighting installed have been issued violation notices and have been ordered to remove them.
WHAT IT IS:
Concealed accent/holiday lighting is a new technology which replaces traditional Christmas lights that must be hung every year. The lights are installed under the soffit or eaves of a home, which makes the lights virtually invisible during the day. The lights are controlled by a smartphone application. Popular known brands are Govee Lighting and Oelo lighting.
WHY PEOPLE WANT THEM:
- Permanent outdoor lighting systems are installed only once, which saves time and money on installation, maintenance, takedown and storage of lights. No more climbing up and down on a ladder or walking on the roof.
- Permanent outdoor lighting can be used for discreet and attractive accent lighting when not used as holiday lighting.
- Permanent outdoor lighting doubles as safety and security lighting.
Although you may not be interested in having these lights installed on your home, please sign this petition in support of your fellow residents who are requesting this change. Also, please share this petition with residents who do not have access to social media. We need as many signatures as possible to get the attention of the Board of Directors.
Thank you.
