TDC decision is announced - come and join us in Folk Week Parade

Did you see the news yesterday?  We are all reeling. 

Would you like to stand up for Pierremont Park by joining us in the Folk Week Parade this afternoon? (we've just had confirmation we can be in it if so apologies for the very late notice!)

Both Isle of Thanet News and Kent Online reported that TDC have now decided to sell the Pierremont Park Depot to the highest bidder - a commercial developer who has apparently offered a high price for it. 

We have asked for this decision to be called in to the council's overview and scrutiny committee next week since the Town Council's bid for it was to bring it back into use to benefit the park which is what it is supposed to be used for according to the terms on which it was sold to the old Urban District Council originally - and the previous planning application's rejection made clear that it is not suitable for housing because it can only be accessed via a single track path through the protected open space of the park. We will be considering our other options this weekend and early next week. If would like to help show your support please come along and join us in the parade. You can either bring a handmade placard to wave (just write on a piece of cardboard with a marker pen - "Friends of Pierremont Park")  or dress up in a costume of your choice to show your love for the park.  Flowers in hair,  snip a bit of tree from your garden to wave - whatever works for you!
