As an alumnus of Fordham University, it pains me to see the institution that once held high prestige steadily slide into mediocrity. I fondly recall my days at Fordham, a university that was recognized among the top in the country for its academic rigor and excellence. Today, with Tania Tetlow at the helm, these accolades seem to be fading into memory. The Fordham of today is becoming a shadow of its former self; no longer a distinguished choice but often seen as a mere backup school.

Since Tania Tetlow took over as president, several concerning trends have emerged. Tuition fees have skyrocketed, undermining the affordability that used to be one of Fordham's strengths. At the same time, the acceptance rate has increased considerably, seemingly diminishing the university's selectivity and competitive edge. Such changes suggest a move towards quantity over quality, where the institution prioritizes enrollment numbers over maintaining academic standards and excellence.

The academic rankings, which once bolstered the university's reputation, have suffered significantly. This decline in ranking not only impacts current students but also devalues the degree for all alumni. The decline reflects poorly on the administration's strategies and calls into question the direction in which she is leading the university.

Alumni, students, parents, and faculty members must unite to convey our concerns to the university's board and make them aware that the legacy and future of Fordham University are at risk. We must advocate for a leadership that respects the institution's traditions while driving it forward on a path of excellence.

We urge Tania Tetlow to step down from her position as president for the betterment of the university and insist upon appointing leadership that aligns with keeping Fordham's values intact, ensuring it remains a prestigious institution.
