Urge Sydney Metro Authority to Retain Temporary Staff as Permanent Full-Time Workers

Urge Sydney Metro Authority to Retain Temporary Staff as Permanent Full-Time Workers
The issue
As a direct response to the disappointment experienced due to the reckless decision Sydney Metro has taken, we are compelled to act. The audacious move to cut staff across its network, despite overcrowded stations and an upsurge in crime, is not only a disgrace but also a threat to the safety of the workers and passengers.
Sydney Metro’s own reports reveal that patronage at most stations is exceeding expectations—a clear indication that the service is more necessary than ever. Regrettably, at the same time, crime rates are rising and assaults on staff and commuters are becoming increasingly common. Incredibly, instead of increasing measures to improve safety and service, Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) is eliminating 40 frontline workers—a decision that aggravates these issues, rather than alleviating them.
The objective of this petition is to urge the Sydney Metro Authority to rethink their ill-advised decision. We demand that they provide sufficient funding to retain the so-called “temporary” staff and ensure their conversion to full-time, permanent positions. This action is essential in order to maintain the highest levels of public safety and service.
By taking this step, the Sydney Metro Authority will send a strong message about their dedication to their workers, to public safety, and to providing quality service. Let’s urge them to make the right decision for the employees, for the passengers, and for the future of public transport in Sydney.
Stand with us as we appeal to the Sydney Metro Authority to respect the hard work of their employees and to prioritize the safety and satisfaction of patrons. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard.
