As a concerned parent with children attending school, I am deeply troubled by the increasing presence of guns on our campuses. Our schools should be sanctuaries for learning, not places where teachers or staff feel compelled to carry firearms for safety. The introduction of guns into these environments does not solve the issue of gun violence on campus; instead, it only serves to escalate it.

Recent studies show that more guns in schools do not necessarily improve safety. In fact, they may increase risks and create unintended consequences (source: Giffords Law Center). Those who commit atrocities on campuses often plan their actions well in advance. Knowing that teachers and staff are armed could potentially provoke them further.

In addition to this pressing issue, I urge the reinstatement of prayer in our school systems. As a Christian parent, I believe that allowing prayer back into schools can contribute positively towards creating a nurturing environment for our children's growth.

This is personal to every parent who has children going to school in this country - we all want our kids' educational spaces to be safe and conducive for learning without fear or anxiety.

I call upon the local state government authorities to conduct an extensive study on the pros and cons of having guns in schools while considering reinstating prayer as part of daily activities. Let us work together towards creating safer and more inclusive educational environments for our children's future.
