Urge Speaker M. Johnson to bring National Securities Act to a vote in the House
The Issue
Mr Speaker, M. Johnson,
This week marks the second anniversary of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the largest war in Europe since WWII, when the United States was on the right side of history and helped defeat the Nazi regime. Today, we are again seeing how an evil dictatorship is committing war crimes, and is threatening global security and the world order. However, our government is not acting decisively and is instead using this issue for political gains.
Mr. Speaker, by stalling H.R. 815, you are undermining our democracy — you are not allowing other U.S. Congressmen, including my representative, the opportunity to express the will of their constituents. Mr Speaker, please bring H.R. 815 to a vote in the House.
Over the past few days, Russian forces executed several young Ukrainian soldiers who were captured because they were seriously wounded, unarmed, and unable to move. Among them is Andrii Dubnytskyi, who left behind his wife and baby daughter. Andrii’s farewell texts to his wife are heartbreaking. These and many other war crimes and deaths occurred over recent weeks because Ukrainian forces lacked ammunition, weapons, and evacuation equipment, and had to retreat. By not bringing the aid package to a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives, you, Speaker Mike Johnson, bear responsibility for these war crimes committed by Putin’s regime. This is inexcusable, and history will judge your actions harshly.
Last week, Putin brutally executed Alexey Navalny, demonstrating to the West that he will continue to commit crimes, kill political opponents, and suppress democracy in Russia. His appetite for aggression will only grow as he sees the inaction of the U.S. Congress.
On your website, you declare key conservative principles — including freedom, rule of law, peace through strength, and human dignity — and you state that these timeless principles “made our nation the freest, strongest, and most prosperous in human history.” These are the principles that the Ukrainian people are fighting for. Supporting Ukraine is in our national interests. Supporting Ukraine is our moral obligation.
As a U.S. citizen/resident, I urge you to do what is right and to bring the aid package bill H.R. 815, which provides much-needed funds for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, to a vote in the House.
