Join us on Sunday the 18th May to come together and celebrate Chester the London plane tree and our other amazing street tree heroes.
It will be a day to honour nature, community and the quiet strength of our urban trees. Families, tree-lovers, and curious passers-by are all invited to join a Tree Walk at 12 noon, starting outside Holt Farm Junior School in Rochford. The walk provides a chance to admire the trees that continue to grace our streets, reflect on those we've lost, and conclude beneath Chester's branches on Chichester Road, Southend.
Later in the day, the celebration continues at The Alex (Alexandra Street) in Southend where at 3pm there will be a film screening of Kate Colenbrander's short film 'In Arboretum' which captures the strong bond between people and the trees around them.
The event also marks the launch of 'Chester the Big Street Tree', a children's book written by Katy Treverton and illustrated by Karen Stilwell, which brings Chester's story to life for young readers.
Whether you're a lifelong local or new to the area, you are all welcome to join us on this occasion to reconnect with one another and with the living urban landscape which we all share.
With love and thanks for your continued support to save Chester. xxx
