The Issue

Nursing is one of the most demanding and stressful professions—even under normal circumstances. When nurses choose to work during a strike, our stressors increase exponentially. As professionals, we temporarily leave the comfort and stability of our homes, often traveling across the country to ensure that patients continue to receive safe and compassionate care. The added burden of shared housing during these workforce disruptions only amplifies the strain, undermining both morale and mental health.

Sharing accommodations with strangers during a strike assignment is not only unprofessional, demeaning, and uncomfortable, but it also disregards the mental well-being of the nurses who are already under immense pressure. In preparation of or after long, taxing shifts, we need personal space to decompress—whether that’s through listening to music, reading quietly, or speaking privately with loved ones. The inability to do so due to shared housing directly impacts our ability to rest and recover, which in turn could affect our performance and patient care. Prolink’s current policy of mandating shared housing for strike nurses demonstrates a disregard for the nurses’ basic needs. Despite receiving the same funding as other agencies that provide private accommodations, Prolink continues to cut corners—reducing housing quality and now even removing traditional allowances such as baggage reimbursement. Their approach sends a clear message that nurses are viewed merely as labor, rather than as professionals deserving of respect and humane treatment.

Please sign below to demand that Prolink provide private housing accommodations for all strike nurses. If the company cannot meet this fundamental requirement for adequate living conditions, we will withhold our services.

There is power in unity—let’s show Prolink that we will no longer accept shared housing as a part of any strike nursing agreement.

I understand that some people may worry about retaliation from Prolink or being excluded from future travel assignments or WFD contracts. Your privacy matters. If you prefer not to list your full name, you may use initials or a generic placeholder (for example, “Concerned Nurse,” “RN Supporter,” “Travel RN,” "Strike RN," etc.). The purpose of this petition is to demonstrate how many people support ending shared housing, not to collect personal details.
