Skateboarding is illegal in most American cities.  While the legality is often dealt at a local level.  The federal government also manages Washington DC and has significant influence over local authorities.   The declaration of legalizing skateboarding will help bring attention to this much needed issue.

No longer would a skateboarder have to worry if today's practice spot is prohibited by local laws.
