Urge President to reform work visa and employment policies

Urge President to reform work visa and employment policies
The Issue
The United States has long been a land of opportunity, attracting skilled professionals from around the world who seek to contribute to the American economy. However, it is vital that the employment opportunities for American citizens remain a priority. Recent trends indicate a growing concern about the availability of jobs for American citizens, especially fresh college graduates, competing against a backdrop of international workforce policies that may unintentionally disadvantage them.
Firstly, by requiring employers who sponsor work visa employees to post job openings for American citizens for at least six months prior to filing a Labor Condition Application (LCA), we can increase transparency and fairness in the recruitment process. This change would provide American workers with a genuine opportunity to apply for these roles, ensuring that international recruitment only occurs when there is a definitive lack of suitable domestic candidates.
Secondly, halting the H4 EAD (Employment Authorization Document) visas, or at least pausing them for a minimum of six years, could help address the job scarcity for American citizens. The H-4 EAD allows spouses of H-1B visa holders to work in the U.S., potentially saturating the job market and making it more competitive for citizens seeking employment opportunities.
Finally, the OPT (Optional Practical Training) program for foreign students, while designed to enhance the educational experience, often results in more competition for entry-level positions against freshly graduated American students. By reevaluating and potentially ending the OPT program, we allow U.S. citizen graduates a fair shot at starting their careers without facing additional competition from international students.
Implementing these changes will require the President's commitment to prioritizing American employment. Join us in urging the President of the United States to consider these reforms seriously.
Please sign this petition to support these necessary changes and protect the job opportunities for American citizens. Together, we can ensure that the American workforce remains robust and competitive while providing fair opportunities for all citizens seeking employment. Your voice matters!
