The Issue

Three days ago, our family had to make an incredibly tough decision. Our beloved cat, Smokey, had to be placed in a shelter because the temporary location we are staying at does not allow pets. This has been a heart-wrenching experience, not only for us but also for Smokey, who is now in an unfamiliar environment away from the love, care, and familiarity of her home. For anyone who has ever owned a pet, you know they are more than just animals—they’re family.

Luckily, we’re just weeks away from settling into a new apartment where Smokey can join us once more. However, until that date, we're desperately seeking an alternative to ensure that Smokey is in a comfortable, safe, and loving environment. That’s where Paw Works, a refuge and sanctuary for animals in need, becomes so crucial.

Paw Works has demonstrated time and again its commitment to the welfare of animals. With their state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated team, they are more than equipped to offer Smokey the temporary home she needs while we transition. Boarding Smokey would not be an undue burden for Paw Works; instead, it would be an excellent example of their mission in action—helping families like ours keep the bonds with their pets intact during transitions.

Imagine if every shelter and pet sanctuary actively worked with families like ours, ensuring that temporary circumstances don't lead to permanent separations. Paw Works can set a benchmark here! By agreeing to provide short-term boarding for Smokey, they would help us reunite our family more smoothly and show other organizations how to pave the way forward.

We are lovingly urging Paw Works to act on this small, yet deeply significant request. Our family, like Smokey, is just waiting for the chance to be whole again, in a new home where all of us belong.

Please sign this petition to urge Paw Works to step forward and provide temporary boarding for Smokey. Together, let’s demonstrate how small accommodations can lead to monumental acts of compassion.
