Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to participate in and share this on going petition. We have now reached over 2,000 signatures, and your engagement clearly shows how important this issue is to the dog community.

I want to make you aware of an important development. The public consultation period is now open regarding a proposed regulation in Ontario that would prohibit what are defined as medically unnecessary procedures performed on dogs. The proposal includes procedures such as ear cropping, tail docking, and dewclaw removal.

This consultation has been highlighted by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT), and public input is actively being requested.

This is a critical opportunity for breeders, dog owners, veterinary professionals, and the public to review the proposal and ensure that informed, balanced perspectives are included in the decision-making process.

You can take action in two important ways:

Review the proposal and submit your comments through the public registry:

https://www.regulatoryregistry.gov.on.ca/proposal/52973

Email your comments and concerns directly to:

Ministry of the Solicitor General – Strategic Policy Division

📧 SOLGENinput@ontario.ca

Please share this information with anyone you believe may be affected by this proposal, including fellow breeders, dog owners, veterinarians, technicians, and others in the dog community. Broad awareness and informed participation are essential.

Thank you again for your continued support, engagement, and willingness to speak up on behalf of responsible dog ownership and breeding practices.

Sincerely,

Isolde Ryan
