Urge New Jersey to Fully De-schedule Cannabis

The Issue

Cannabis has been recognized for its potential benefits across various sectors, including healthcare and the economy. Despite some states legalizing it for both medical and recreational use, cannabis remains classified as a Schedule I drug in New Jersey, which puts it at the same level as heroin and cocaine. This classification prevents important research, stifles economic opportunities, and perpetuates racial disparities in drug-related legal consequences. The American Civil Liberties Union found that Black people in New Jersey are 3.5 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than their white counterparts. To help rectify these disparities and exploit its potential benefits, it’s time New Jersey follows other states and fully de-schedules cannabis. It's crucial that New Jersey reconsiders the position on cannabis and make informed decisions based on modern scientific research and social perspectives. Let's call our lawmakers to action and demand they fully de-schedule cannabis in New Jersey. Your voice is important – please sign the petition.
