Urge Lawmakers & Oil Companies to Increase U.S Oil Production to Alleviate Energy Costs

The Issue

I may own a car, but that doesn't mean I have a home. It's painful to admit, but the exorbitantly high gas prices in the United States have left me in a dire situation - essentially homeless, spending hundreds of dollars each week on the fuel necessary for travel to and from work as well as for basic life necessities. Like so many others, my income hasn't kept pace with the soaring cost of living. Worse, the prices of almost everything necessary for life have risen over 50%.

We're not asking for a miracle. What we need isn't far-fetched or unattainable. We're merely asking major oil companies to increase U.S oil production. The overbearing cost on the average American can be eased if the supply of oil surpasses the demand, causing a decrease in gas prices and a significant reduction in costs along the entire supply chain.

It's no secret that the United States is one of the world's largest oil producers, producing roughly 18.6 million barrels per day in 2019 according to U.S Energy Information Administration (U.S EIA). It is a resource we have plenty of. Yet, the everyday American who contributes to this success suffers.

NOTE TO ENVIRONMENTALISTS:
The framework for electric vehicles is taking shape for the future and will greatly reduce the carbon footprint of the United States. However, the interim must be supported by using the fossil fuel resources we have at our disposal to alleviate strain on average Americans while we await the practicality of broad adoption of electrically powered vehicles.

The mechanism is simple. Increase the supply, the prices come down and the cost of living becomes bearable once again. It's time to remind these giant oil corporations of the struggles of average Americans trying to make ends meet. These people power the country's success and they deserve relief. Please, sign this petition urging oil companies to increase US production and provide necessary economic relief.
