Urge Julian Leeser to end discussions with a known terrorist family
The issue
Growing up separated from much of my Kurdish family. I've witnessed the rich tapestry of our culture, history, and heritage being systematically suppressed and stolen by oppressive regimes. Reza Pahlavi, under the guise of his families leadership, has been implicated in these egregious acts. The Pahlavi regime isn't about individual freedom or national prosperity; it has been about maintaining power at the expense of Kurdish lives, culture, language, and history.
For years, our history has been rewritten, our traditions erased, and our peoples silenced. Hundreds of thousands of Kurds have been executed simply for existing in the land they have inhabited since the dawn of human civilisation. These are the lives of family members, neighbours, and friends who have suffered at the hands of a violent regime that the world seems to be turning a blind eye to.
The recent talks between Julian Leeser and individuals linked to such regimes are morally irrepressible. You can not be a representative of a free nation, who has it's own past crimes.. that it has recognised. And, also be inviting the man who's family is responsible for the complete erasure of Kurdish culture and history from the history books. How many of us, have had to witness, as the world gives praise to the great Persian history? Knowing the truth, that all that they praise, is of Kurdish making. To live everyday as a ghost in someone elses fantasy. These discussions inadvertently lend legitimacy to an oppressive system that continues to violate human rights and perpetuate cultural and historical theft. By engaging in conversations with representatives from the Pahlavi line, a clear message is being sent; that the world is willing to overlook the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Kurdish people, and the injustices done to them, for political gain.
What can be done? We ask Julian Leeser to stand firm and retract from any dialogue that benefits those who have committed such atrocities. Instead, he should amplify voices that are often quelled, starting with the Kurdish community. Our home was taken from us, by force, by foreigners. And now so many of us live under oppressive regimes spread across arbitrary borderlines.
Our call is for an acknowledgment of past atrocities and an unwavering commitment to ensuring they are never repeated. By halting these talks, Julian Leeser can take a significant step towards disavowing a regime that has caused immense suffering. A regime that has no legitimate right to govern.
We need your support to make our voices heard. Sign this petition to urge Julian Leeser to cease these discussions and choose the side of justice, peace, and cultural preservation. Together, we can convey a powerful message. Our history and our culture, are not bargaining chips in any political maneuvering.
