I wanted a wide range of people to feel comfortable signing the petition

Just over 500 signatories, whatever that means... I started it on Tuesday out of pain and frustration. I wanted wording that would allow people from a wide spectrum to sign. If people can't see in it a common cause to fight for, it has no chance in the real world. 

I see now that around a quarter of signatories are probably from a Muslim background.
