The Issue

Mr and Mrs Mebude of Edmonton, Alberta Canada says the following;

The lives of my wife and I are at a critical juncture. As elderly Nigerians seeking refuge in Canada due to persecution in our home country, we are facing the very real threat of deportation—a decision that could jeopardize our safety and well-being. We are urgently appealing to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship to exercise compassion and humanity by staying our deportation.

In Nigeria, we experienced severe persecution, a situation that forced us to seek sanctuary in Canada. Returning would not only expose us to imminent danger but also exacerbate our already fragile health conditions. Our age and health issues mean that deportation could have catastrophic consequences, potentially putting our lives at risk. I am a volunteer worker at my Local Church RCCG Champions Parish Edmonton in good standing and support community growth programs.

Since arriving in Canada, we have strived to integrate with kindness and gratitude, never becoming a burden to the government. We have always respected Canadian laws and values while contributing to the community where possible. We understand that our humanitarian application is presently under review, and we earnestly plead that a decision is made favorably.

Humanitarian values are at the heart of Canada's identity. It is with these values that we ask for your support. Our plea is not just for a stay of deportation, but for the chance to live in peace, away from fear and persecution, in a country known for its fairness and justice. We beg for the opportunity to continue our lives in dignity and safety.

Join us in urging the Minister to stay our deportation and allow us to remain in Canada, where we can contribute positively to society and live without fear. Your signature can make a life-changing impact. Please sign this petition.
